The outbreak of COVID-19 has churned a sense of self-awareness and social responsibility among the people across the globe. Masks have become a vital part of our life. It’s beyond our comprehension to stay away from the regimes which kept us going once. There is nothing worse than a life without moral human interaction. A dreadful phase in the world history after the second world war. Being rational citizens, we should do a good turn to the cause by refraining ourselves from evident social engagement.
Importance of personal hygiene is one good virtue that has emerged out of this global pandemic. People who are unhygienic by nature is having a great deal of toll these days. Stay sanitized and stay away from the society are the two outstanding solutions for this worldwide crisis.
Are we following these two simple gestures to save the people around us? From what I witnessed here in NCR, I could clearly say that the answer is a ”no!” Majority of the people aren’t even bothered about the consequences on them as well as on others. Masks were worn on the chin rather than on the face. But yes, everybody has that particular accessory with them as if it’s inappropriate to travel without a mask hanging down from the hand or clinging somewhere around the chin area.
The jam-packed scene in a share auto still prevails, not sure where they are all heading to. They are all engaged in some busy conversation carrying the now-trendy accessory but certainly not on the face.
From my family and friends, I could hear almost the same situation in my hometown Kerala too. Because of the firm law and order measures, circumstances are little better there. At least people were forced to adhere to the stiff rules.
Masks for purpose
The main purpose of the masks is to secure others rather than protecting yourself. It might be aggravating to wear it all through the day, but shouldn’t skip to wear it in an unavoidable public meeting. People here in NCR are either under the belief that no virus could probably affect them or they don’t care at all. Maybe the fear of police could be one of the driving forces for ”carrying” the masks.
Do not step out without the mask
Considering the relevance of masks in our day to day life, many have come up with diverse nifty masks. As a result, masks have become one of the complementing accessories as per the outfit for those who are always fussy about their looks. A break from the ordinary mask patterns itself is laudable thinking. This is an intriguing idea for those who wear masks with complaints.
Aesthetic mask designs
Even before Covid-19 sanitizers have survived. It was one among the several disinfectant items then. Now sanitizers are ruling the world. Life seems to cease without a bottle of sanitizer. They are another word for hygiene now!
But showering over a bottle of sanitizer won’t do any miracles. Proper handwashing with soap as per the recommended way is equally effective in the prevention strategy. It’s worthwhile to have an alcohol-based sanitizer with you while during travel. Apply it across the exposed area if you are perplexed whether you had physical contact with a stranger outside.
Where to travel when we are uncertain of the destination. Nevertheless, some are always travelling somewhere. I wish I could ask them in person about the extreme urgency. Even during the stringent lockdown period, circumstances seemed normal for a significant percentage of the people in India. As a result, the COVID statistics in India is way ahead of our imagination right now.
It’s quite a typical scene in places like local provisional stores and supermarkets. We could hardly see any restrictions or regulations over there. Some can be seen wearing the masks and some others covering the face with a piece of nose rag, apart from that there is no change in the general attitude of the people. There are even people without any of the above for at least courtesy sake.
The world’s survival depends on our attitude. It might bother us to see a passive category of the crowd, but never mind we should play our part by being sensible during this pandemic. Stay at home and spend time with your beloved ones as one positive impact of the whole situation. Step out only if it’s inevitable. Wear masks whenever you are out, avoid any kind of physical contact outside and have a sanitizer bottle handy.
